Greetings all ! I am Joe Fecarotta, a Web Programmer in the Seattle area ( Federal Way for those who know/care). I have been blogging with blogger for years, and I love it. For quickly hosting and jotting down thoughts, there's nothin' else. (Well, there are wiki sites, and those are even better, but I'd have to pay more on my host to do it. )

Most of my thoughts tend to be political, and I am in the Conservative-Libertarian sort of place, but its never that clean.
Major influences on my thoughts are varied from science to philosophy. I consider it my own mission to get to my kids a simple doctrine of life. What is it ? What is true ? What is old thought ? Where are we going ? After nearly 40 years of life I think I should know answers to some of these things.

I'm still searching. I'll pick three main influences for now, somewhat chronologically:
Isaac Asimov was an early influence on me, reading most of his books before I was done with High School. I especially loved the Foundation series, and I'm stunned that it hasn't been made into a film yet. I'm sure it will be, but there aren't terrific battle scenes ala Lord of the Rings. I also during that time read Tolkien, and loved it then and I'm SO happy with Peter Jackson's rendition. Its brought the joy of Middle Earth to so many millions more than Tolkein's challenging texts could. Its not the same, but it will most certainly do. The day where Orcs are no longer for geeks is upon us !

CS Lewis --
Huge influence. Probably the most of any author, he convinced me that i could be honest and intellectual and be a Christian at the same time. Though I tend to stray a little on the specifics, CSL is the man.

Most recently its Steven Pinkers' Blank Slate. I mention so much around my various sites that I shant say much about the book here. There are so many issues with the Far Right Christian and the Far Left Socialist they both should go to Mars with the Rover.

I'll add more here later.

:)
